Happy Easter!

Well the rolls are baked. ( I have yet to master yeast dough)  The brownies are baked.  The potatoes are peeled,  the broccoli is thawed. The Bunny just hopped through the house.  Our friend Kelly picked up her Easter  order at 11:30pm.  Dishes are almost done, and I get a few hours to sleep.  Good enough for me. Happy Easter Everyone!

When your not sure what to do, God kicks your ass down the right path.

Thanks goes out to the big guy.  I know he has led me down this path and hopefully I chose wisely.  No poor Indiana Jones references here. I had a meeting this week with what should be a great place to bake out of. I don't want to mention names till I know for sure. It involves production for them as I do production for myself.  This could work. Besides, it's a real kitchen.

Business is picking up!  Word is spreading and orders are coming in. It's AWESOME!!!  I can't thank everyone enough for all the support that I've gotten.  I keep thinking of things I want to make to add to the Menu. The half moons are delish and the brownies! OH the brownies!  I love that everyone is ordering them and it always seems that there is one left after I do the order.  It's dessert for DH and I. I'm only sort of complaining.   I think tomorrow is going to be Cinnamon Raisin Swirl bread.  Perfect for breakfast toasted with a little butter.  I'll work the recipie, and let you all know when it makes it to the menu.

It's getting late, and it's rained again. We got a quick thunder shower this evening. So there is nothing in the garden yet. I have some lovely plants that need to go in. Yet they sit in they're dirt waiting ever so patiently.  Well Top Gear is on, so off to watch crazy brits driving across the English channel.

Decisions, Decisions.

Why is it when you think you have found your way, there is a giant fork in the road and no map to be found.  I thought I had found the kitchen to bake in. Then God laughed and bellowed from the Heavens,  "Are you sure?? "  So then another opportunity calls, and then another.

REALLY?????

I guess, I shouldn't complain.  But this is a hard decision to make. Once I make the decision I have to stick with it for at least a year, as that is where my permit will be located, so that is where I will have to stay.  What if I make the wrong decision? What if I choose poorly, Will it be like at the end of the Raiders of the Lost Ark when the Nazi's choose the wrong cup. He choose the fancy one, because the Son of God must have a chalice of jewels and gold. But really as we all know, the big JC was a carpenter and simple man of simple means. Choose the wooden one! Stupid Nazi.  Well your face melted and you got what you deserved.   OMG will my face melt if I choose poorly?

[caption id="attachment_63" align="aligncenter" width="150" caption="I'm Melting--I'M MELTING!!!"][/caption]

So, at this point I am clueless.  Two choices, a fork in the road and no frigging map...

A DSLR, Lots of Orders, Cataract Surgery

So we borrowed a DSLR  from the New Husbands (NH)  Dad.  I just want to say I'm in love. Unequivocally In LOVE! I seriously took 100 pictures yesterday, of everything that I could get my view finder on. I'll put some up on the blog.  It is awesome, and seriously my dog never looked so good, even in really life.  I got some great shots of my seeds coming up and I tried to take some pictures of the Apple Cake. I didn't like any of them. I really think I have to cut into the cake and then take a picture.  Will do that today.

It was a good weekend for orders! Baked yesterday and today, will mail out tomorrow.

Mom goes in for cataract surgery tomorrow. I can't say that I'm not nervous, but after the aortic aneurysm two years ago. This is cake.  None the less all prayers are appreciated.  Well to upload pictures and pack up the apple cakes to mail.

Cheers!

Happy Birthday to Penny, with two new Recipes!

So my little darling is 2 today. Well we think she is two. We got her from the Forever Home Pet Rescue a great Albany organization that finds forever homes for dogs. I can't believe that she has been with us for more then a year now. I really don't remember what life was like before she took a piece of my heart.  What did I do before I was woken every morning with a 40 pound dog sitting on my back? Or the wet kisses I get every night before bed.  If you don't have one of your own, and are looking to adopt, I definitely suggest Forever Home. They were great, they make sure every dog will work with their new owners. They make house visits and call your vets. And of course, they are a no kill adoption agency, actually they get a lot of their dogs from kill shelters in the south. We know that Penny came from Arkansas.  So our little girl is here to stay, and after the wedding we're talking about adding to our four-legged family.   In honor of Penny's birthday I am adding a Recipe section to blog and putting up her birthday peanut butter cookies.

Well I went and saw the co-op kitchen today. I think it's going to be a good fit for my business. The proprietor Anna is a great lady, that really has an interest in helping people out. She was a Home-economics teacher at Ichabod Crane School. The kitchen is down in Kinderhook, which is a bit of a drive from my East Greenbush home, but really not that bad.  Now I need to figure out how I can afford all of the fees and permits that I will need. NY makes it really hard for a business to get started.  I have to start looking around for small business loans etc.   But at least I have a place to bake now.

Dinner tonight was pizza, which brings me to my new recipe. It is for my pizza crust. I forgot to take pictures when I was making it so those will be posted next week when I make it.  Kevin and I are on a low carb/ high protein diet, that doesn't allow breads, starches, and high sugar vegetables.  So after a lot of tries I came up with a high protein crust. I saw lots of interesting things on line, that used cauliflower. We tried a few, but Kevin is not a fan of cauliflower,  so those when out the window.  Finally I came up with my own, which works out quite well for crust. It's not your thick Sicilian, but it holds toppings.  The recipe also works if you add some south west spices and make them burrito size.  Not to bad of a taco shell.  All in all today was a productive day.  Here's to the weekend, let it be a warmer, less rainy/snowy couple of days!
